Nominations Open for the 2025 ARA Historical Novel Prize – Children & Young Adult Category
Submissions are now open for the 2025 ARA Historical Novel Prize, Australasia’s most prestigious literary award for historical fiction.
With a total prize pool of $150,000, the Children and Young Adult (CYA) category winner will receive $30,000, and the two shortlisted authors will each receive $5,000. Open to novels set at least 50 years in the past, the prize celebrates exceptional storytelling that brings history to life for young readers.
The Adult category winner will receive $100,000, with two shortlisted authors also awarded $5,000 each.
Now in its fifth year, the prize has previously honoured acclaimed authors, including two-time CYA winner Katrina Nannestad.
Entries are open from 19 March to 11 June 2025, with winners announced on 16 October.
