25 Sep Learn about space with an astronomer or master origami via a new kids online experience
Airbnb is launching a new collection of Online Experiences – Field Trips – designed to broaden kids’ horizons by tapping into a network of experts based all over the world.
Through these educational experiences parents can send their kids on a virtual trip of discovery with some of the world’s brightest and bravest – from uncovering Pompeii with an archaeologist to embarking on a leopard safari in Sri Lanka- there’s something for every type of curious kid.
This collection features more than 75 Online Experiences hosted from over 20 countries and varies in duration from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
For kids keen to develop hands-on skills there’s also arts and crafts experiences, including coloured pasta making with authentic Roman chefs and creating a traditional Mexican pinata. Each experience also includes a super easy checklist of basic materials to bring along. US actress, activist and filmmaker Olivia Wilde will also be hosting a one off Socially Conscious Story Hour experience.
Susan Wheeldon, Airbnb’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said this new collection of educational experiences is the perfect antidote to school holiday boredom.
“As a mum of two girls I know how hard it can be to keep curious minds entertained – especially during a year where parents have had the added challenge of homeschooling. This new collection of experiences taps into Airbnb’s international network of hosts, bringing a sense of worldliness and global learning to children here in Australia. I know my girls can’t wait to spend a day in Paris with a Parisian and master origami making with a Japanese expert, all from the convenience of home.”
