17 Jun 9 Dreamy Mudrooms
Entryway, foyer or mudroom – Jenna Templeton shares ideas on how to make use of this amazing little space that welcomes you as soon as you open your front door.
Having grown up in the Blue Mountains in NSW, I have a soft spot for beautiful cottages and character-filled homes. Watching episodes of Escape to the Country with a nice cup of tea is a favourite pastime too.
So I’ve always loved those quaint mudrooms and foyers, which make for an ideal spot for housing gumboots, handbags, shoes, hats and school backpacks.
The space can also be a nifty spot for other storage that you may not be able to find or make room for in other parts of the house.
Here are some great ideas to get you inspired!
If you don’t have much of an entryway or hallway space for your mudroom, choose a wall nook near the entrance and use a funky hang-it-all to hook bags on. Use a book shelf to house baskets for extra storage. (Image: Inside Out).
Be welcomed with inspiration! Attach a cork board to the wall and display your favourite family snaps or artwork – ready to admire daily. (Image: Vtwonen).
Jazz up a blank wall space with a pop of colour and mount floating shelves for storage. How chic are the gold metal details on the corners of the units? (Image: Do It Yourself).
Turn your foyer wall into a family roster by coating the space in chalkboard paint. Attach laundry baskets to the wall for a unique take on a shadow box. (Image: Target).
Paint crates in pastel shades and screw them to the walls for instant shelving. (Image: Who, What, Wear).
A mudroom that’s a mini fashion space…umm yes please! House your coats on a movable clothing rack and clip all your appointment deets onto clipboards that are hung to the walls. (Image: Desire to Inspire).
Let a beautiful artwork or rug be the talking point of the entry way. Choose accessories and decor to compliment the colours seen in these two pieces. (Image: Oh Happy Day).
Up-cycle a wardrobe or entertainment unit door knobs and use as hooks to hang your hats, bags and coats on. (Image: Who,What,Wear).
