Sally Love Jewels

When I’m designing a new piece I’m inspired by nature, ergonomics, comfort, the everyday, and of course, wearability.

For a long time, my dream has been to create pieces of jewellery made with love. Seeing other beautiful handcrafted jewellery inspired me to start my own label. I love the longevity and feeling that jewellery gives people – lots of memories, love and happiness.

What can we find in your range?

I mostly design custom jewellery, but sometimes create my own pieces that are for sale. Right now I’m working with some absolutely to-die-for south sea pearls and have been creating one-off pieces. There are also a few gold necklaces and a bangle that I’m going to struggle to part with as it’s so divine. I have some more rings in the works too for an upcoming collection.

Can you explain your style?

It’s very simple with clean lines and a playful touch on masculine-feminine. My biggest passion is working to support the local industry. Every piece is unique as it is a handmade, one-off made by a talented local artisan.

When I’m designing a new piece I’m inspired by nature, ergonomics, comfort, the everyday, and of course, wearability.

Who is your range for?

I design most of my pieces for strong and independent women, and I want to start designing for kids – perhaps bangles, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Maybe that’ll be my next range.

What challenges have you faced starting your own label, and what are some things you love about it?

Having the confidence and self-belief to keep creating is an ongoing challenge for me. Coming up with funding, and finding the motivation to work when I have a gorgeous little buddy to play with all day long has been tough. But when I come home from a day working with jewellers, sourcing stones and seeing the finished piece, I’m on a high. I know that this is exactly what I’m meant to be doing in life. I love working with clients to create pieces that I know are going to be cherished for generations to come.

Sally Love’s Top 5 pieces…

1. The first piece I ever made was a ring for my mum. It was the starting point for actually following through with this career.

2. My engagement and wedding bands are pretty special.

3. The birthstone ring I made for my daughter, Esther, which I’m guardian of until she marries.

4. My first ever south sea pearl ring.

5. A fine jewellery brooch I created for a dear old man to give to his wife for their 40-year wedding anniversary.

Sally Love is a jewellery designer and mum to Esther, 15 months, who is also CHILD Mags publisher Jo Love’s granddaughter. Sally Love Jewels is on Etsy and Facebook.
