27 Nov Strawberry And Marshmallow Skewers With Chocolate Sauce
The ultimate summer treat cooked on the barbecue, to be enjoyed by the whole family.
Sometimes bribery is the only way to get through dinner with children, and these skewers are the perfect solution. Dinner will be consumed in minutes so the kids can get their little fingers on these delectable treats.
When cooking with wooden skewers, it is a good idea to soak them in water for about 20 minutes before threading food on them. This will prevent the skewers from burning while cooking on the barbecue.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 5-8 minutes
Serves: 4 (with demands for more!)
Ingredients
12 strawberries
8 marshmallows
150g dark chocolate, broken into pieces
100ml pouring cream
Method
Thread the strawberries and marshmallows onto skewers and refrigerate until ready to use.
Heat cream in a small saucepan until just about to boil. Add chocolate and reduce heat to very low, stirring for about one minute until chocolate melts. Set aside.
Remove skewers from the fridge and place on a preheated, lightly oiled chargrill over high heat. Cook for about one minute on each side, turning once, until marshmallows begin to change colour, but before they melt.
Transfer skewers to plates. Drizzle with chocolate sauce. Serve.
