16 Jan Find your ‘Inner Happy’ to thrive in 2025
Elizabeth Jane encourages people to find their inner happiness rather than seeking it through external things and circumstances.
The shock of a relationship breakdown after many years of marriage was the catalyst for Elizabeth Jane’s quest to find the things that gave her joy and allowed her to discover the new and more fulfilled self she could be.
“It is important to find our ‘inner happy’ rather than trying to find it through external things and circumstances,” Jane said.
“The happiness you find externally is only fleeting, like celebrating my daughter’s birthday, I was so happy but it’s a fleeting moment. Whereas your inner happy is always there for you to access and is independent of your circumstances.
“All that is required is for you to stop, park your problems and become aware of your breathing and senses – become fully present. This Christmas make presence your present to you and watch as your life takes a turn for the better.”
Jane emphasised you attract and manifest whatever corresponds to your inner state.

Tips for finding inner happiness include practicing mindfulness, starting the day with gratitude, moving the body, embracing nature, nurturing connections, unplugging to recharge, cultivating a growth mindset, doing something for others, prioritizing rest and relaxation, being kind to oneself, celebrating small wins, and focusing on what can be controlled
Jane outlines 13 tips to find your inner happy
- Mindfulness minutes
“Set your phone to alarm for at least three separate mindfulness minutes spaced throughout the day to take you out of your mind of negative thoughts and into your heart. Focus on some deep belly breathing and your senses,” Jane said. - Start your day with gratitude
“Begin each day by listing three things you are grateful for. Whether it is a warm cup of coffee, a loved one’s smile or the chance to start fresh, focusing on gratitude sets a positive tone for the day,” Jane said. - Move your body
“Exercise is not just for physical health, it boosts mental well-being too. Whether it’s yoga, dancing, walking or swimming, find an activity that brings you joy and do it regularly to release endorphins, the body’s natural happiness chemicals,” Jane said. - Embrace nature
“Spending time outdoors, even for just 10 minutes a day, can significantly improve your mood. Take a walk in the park, sit under a tree or watch the sunset to feel more grounded and connected to the world around you,” Jane said. - Nurture your connections
“Happiness thrives in supportive, positive relationships. Call a friend, send a thoughtful message, or make time for loved ones. Simple acts of kindness and connection can brighten both your day and theirs,” Jane said. “Allow up to 30 minutes per day to call friends and family and say hello and ask them about their day. Doing this will lift your mood and give them a boost as well.” - Unplug to recharge
“Constant screen time can overwhelm your senses and drain your energy. Schedule daily ‘tech-free’ time to recharge. Use this time to read, meditate or enjoy a creative hobby,” Jane said. - Cultivate a growth mindset
“Shift your perspective on challenges by viewing them as opportunities to learn and grow. This mindset not only reduces stress but also builds resilience, a key ingredient for happiness,” Jane said. - Do something for others
“Helping others is a powerful happiness booster. Volunteer, donate or perform small acts of kindness; it doesn’t have to be big to make an impact on both their life and yours,” Jane said. - Prioritise rest and relaxation
“Sleep is a cornerstone of happiness and health. Aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night and incorporate relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or mindfulness, to calm your mind and body,” Jane said. - Be kind to yourself
“It is so important to be kind to yourself. To become aware of any negative thoughts of shame, blame and judgement and choose a better more loving thought. If we are not respecting and loving ourselves we cannot expect others to love and respect us,” Jane said. - Celebrate small wins
“Life is made up of little victories. Whether it is completing a task, cooking a great meal or meeting a personal goal, take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate your efforts,” Jane said. - Focus on what you can control
“Accepting or letting go of things beyond your control reduces anxiety and frustration. Choose compassion over anger and let go of past grievances. Instead, channel your energy into actions and attitudes you can change, creating a sense of empowerment and peace,” Jane said.
Jane emphasised that true inner peace and happiness is always there for us to draw on. Once we can foster our inner happy by tuning into the present, we attract and manifest this peace and well-being into our lives and also uplift our family and friends with our radiating inner happy vibe.
