15 Apr Mums Giveback: A Mother’s Day Charity Supporting Mums in Crisis
This Mother’s Day, a growing number of businesses and domestic violence survivors across Australia are coming together to support mums who are doing it tough.
Shifting the Spotlight from Gifts to Giving
The Mums Giveback campaign, led by Melbourne mum and Meke Baby founder Elysia Krstevski, is on a mission to ensure no mother is forgotten—especially those fleeing violence or living in crisis.
“I created this campaign to shift the spotlight from curated, commercialised motherhood to real, raw support for mums doing it tough,” Ms Krstevski said.
Instead of sending traditional PR packages, Giveback Boxes are being sent to influencers and supporters—with a simple call to action: fill it with baby essentials for a mother in need.
Influencers Join the Movement to Support Mums
Nearly 100 well-known influencers—including DJ Tigerlily, Kayla Itsines, and Red Wiggle Caterina Mete—have joined the campaign, using their platforms to help raise awareness and donations.
The Story Behind the Campaign: A Tribute to Sarah
The idea for the campaign was inspired by Elysia’s personal experience hiring a woman who had fled domestic violence.
“Sarah* came to her interview in worn-out clothes… but I knew she deserved a chance.”
Sarah thrived in her new job, but years later, Elysia tragically found her deceased. The cause of death was never disclosed.
“It broke me. I carry that moment every day. This campaign is for her—and every woman who feels invisible in her most vulnerable moments.”
The charity Big Group Hug has joined the initiative and will distribute donated baby goods to hundreds of women across Victoria, with the goal of expanding nationally by 2026.
Survivors Share Their Stories to Inspire Hope
Prominent domestic violence survivors, including Simone O’Brien, Lili Greer (daughter of Tina Greer), and Jacinta D’Angelo, are supporting the campaign.
Simone O’Brien, who survived a brutal attack by her ex-partner, now uses her voice to advocate for other women.
“I wanted to let mums know they’re not alone… it’s not embarrassing to ask for help.”
“We need to break the cycle so the next generation can know life can be good.”

“Supporting mothers is at the core of our brand,” Ms Krstevski said. “When you support a mother, you support a child, a future, and a stronger society.”
A Long-Term Vision for Giving Back
Elysia and her team are committed to growing the initiative well beyond Mother’s Day, with future Giveback campaigns, meaningful partnerships, and ongoing stories shared through the Meke Baby podcast, A Double Life.
“Our goal is simple: to normalise giving—not just gifting.”
