Ranger Jamie Makes Learning Fun for Preschoolers

Once considered “just care,” early learning is under growing pressure to deliver quality education for children under five.

The need is clear: 90% of brain development happens before age five, and children who attend high-quality early learning are 40% more likely to be developmentally on track when they start school.

Recognising this, the Australian Childcare Alliance is backing Ranger Jamie Tours, a company known for turning curriculum into adventures for more than 600,000 primary and secondary students. Ranger Jamie has now launched an Early Learning Division to bring that same energy to preschoolers.

Founded by former marine biologist Jamie Simpson, Ranger Jamie is famous for transforming science and geography into fun, real-world experiences. The new preschool incursions—designed for ages 2–5—are 60-minute sessions delivered onsite at childcare centres, aligned with the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Programs explore themes like sustainability, STEM, and cultural inclusion through dress-ups, experiments, and play-based activities led by qualified early childhood educators.

“We’ve seen the power of experiential learning for older students, and now we’re bringing that same energy and quality to the early years,” said Simpson. “These sessions spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and help build school readiness in a way that’s active, memorable, and genuinely fun.”

Already, more than 100 centres have trialled the programs, with every one reporting they plan to rebook within the year. In 2025 alone, Ranger Jamie is set to deliver 2,300 programs nationally, reaching more than 200,000 students.

Preschool operators are also impressed. Petro Papazoglou, Head of Education at Rise and Shine Kindergarten, praised the incursions:
“Children across 10 of our centres enjoyed safe, engaging and educational experiences. They loved learning about conservation, flora and fauna through age-appropriate activities led by passionate Rangers.”

Key Features:

  • 60-minute onsite incursions for ages 2–5
  • Led by professional “Rangers” with early learning expertise
  • Hands-on, play-based learning aligned to EYLF outcomes
  • Focus on science, sustainability, and Indigenous perspectives
