Your style guide to dressing and being an all-round top chick like Barb from Stranger Things.
After binge watching the whole first season of Stranger Things, it seems I’m not alone in this occurrence as it’s quickly becoming a cult fave around the world.
For those of you playing at home, thinking; what the hell is a stranger thing? Let me fill you in. Because if you’re about to watch the second season, you will want to know more about #justiceforbarb.
Take an insanely talented bunch of kid actors, add a huge nostalgic factor, and pay homage to every 70s and 80s Sci-fi TV show and movie you can think of. Think The Goonies, matched with ET, Aliens and of course, 90s goddess Winona Ryder is in it too (win-win!).
Every scene is reminiscent of the 80s, from its synthesizer-bass soundtrack, to the free-range kids exploring the neighbourhood from dusk to dawn. Each episode greets you true to era, the old video games imagery and the iconic Stephen King style font is especially cool. It’s the blast from the past you want to have!
There are so many great things about Stanger Things, but we are just going to focus on one of them for now, and that is the show’s breakout character – Barb. Or more specifically, her style.

Barb likes to rock ruffled neck blouses in shades of pink, lavender or her go-to print, gingham. She has freckle pride and sure knows how to apply 80s turquoise eye-shadow. We could all do with a friend like Barb who is more than just a designated driver who sticks around to be close to her BFF at teen parties even if things seem uncomfortable or iffy. What a hero! A smart chick, she dresses for comfort over style often seen in her trusty navy-green windbreaker on cooler nights. Barb you are more than a sidekick to us!
