12 Jan A Free Parent Connection Kit Helping Families Reconnect — Even on the Busiest Days
Many parents today say they rarely get time to slow down with their kids, juggling work, screens and everyday life often means the small moments that matter most can slip away.
When good intentions meet busy days
Most parents want to feel more connected to their children — but modern family life has a way of getting in the way. Between work, school routines, after-school activities and constant digital distraction, meaningful moments can easily be lost in the rush of the day.
Many parents also carry quiet guilt about not “doing enough”, even when they’re doing their very best. The truth is, connection doesn’t require more hours in the day — just more presence in the moments already there.
Small moments can make a big difference
That idea sits at the heart of the new Parent Connection Kit, a free digital resource created by LifeChanger Foundation in collaboration with Cotton On Foundation and Cotton On Kids.
Designed for families with children aged five to eleven, the kit offers 13 short, three-minute video modules that fit easily into everyday life. Ten are designed for families to explore together, while three focus on parent wellbeing — recognising that supported parents are better able to show up calmly and consistently for their kids.
What families will find inside
Rather than adding to parents’ to-do lists, the Parent Connection Kit focuses on everyday moments families already share. Topics include Playtime, Eating Together, Big Feelings, Gratitude and discovering each child’s “Superpowers”.
Each module offers practical, research-informed ideas that don’t require extra money, planning or preparation — just a willingness to slow down and engage.
Presence over perfection
Scott Watters, CEO and Founder of LifeChanger Foundation, says parents are often surprised by how powerful small moments can be.
“Strong parent-child connections are key to building resilience and confidence,” Scott Watters says. “We sometimes think we’re doing the best for our kids by keeping them busy, when the most meaningful gift is simply being present. This kit helps families enjoy quality time together, even during busy routines.”
Why quality time matters
The kit was developed in collaboration with Dr Samantha Beeken, a registered clinical psychologist and LifeChanger’s General Manager of Programs. She says it’s not the quantity of time that matters most, but how families connect when they’re together.
“When parents engage consciously and authentically — whether that’s during play or at the dinner table — children feel seen and valued,” Dr Beeken explains. “Those moments support self-esteem and help build emotional resilience.”
Play, in particular, plays a vital role in children’s development. It supports learning, emotional regulation and social skills, while also strengthening the parent-child bond. Shared meals offer similar benefits, encouraging open conversation and creating a sense of belonging — even if they only happen once a week.
Supporting families beyond the basics
For Cotton On Kids, the partnership reflects a broader commitment to family wellbeing.
Brand Director Nicky Moulder says,
“As a kids brand, we want to support families beyond clothing. Partnering with LifeChanger allows us to offer parents simple, uplifting tools that fit into everyday life and help build meaningful connection.”
